Holodeck
Also known as a holo-suite or a holographic environment simulator, the holodeck permits the simulation of virtually any environment or person with a degree of fidelity virtually indistinguishable from reality. The holodeck employs three-dimensional holographic projections as well as transporter-based replications of actual objects. A large library of simulations and programs can be found in almost any facilitie's database. Software for the holodeck can be customized according to user preferences. Program applications can range from educational, to recreational, even to training of personnel. Holodecks are equipped with safety overrides to prevent participants from being seriously injured or killed by holographic characters or objects.
