Merced Class

The Merced class has been in service longer than any other type of Frigate vessel.  Not as adaptable and flexible as most other Starfleet vessel, the Merced was designed shortly after the Excelsior Class.  Still, she is know as a solid, dependable, durable little ship.  Decommissioning of this class had begun prior to the Dominion War, during which they were called back into service.  Now that the war is over, they will most likely be decommed again.
