Danube Class

Small Federation starships used for relatively short range interstellar travel.  Resembling an enlarged shuttlecraft, the Danube class runabouts have a cockpit that incorporates a short range two person transporter, as well as seating for four people, including a two person flight crew.  The aft compartment contains living accomodations, and the mid section was a detachable module that could be replaced for different mission profiles.  The first three were commissioned in 2368.  Aft of the pilots compartment, in the living accomodations, there is are bunks and a replicator for food processing.  The runabouts exterior hull is composed of duranium composites.  They are usually named after great rivers.
