Patria Class
Originally designed as a cheaper and more efficient to build alternative to the Galaxy class starship project, this class was scrapped after initial tests with the Galaxy proved satisfactory. It wasn't until after the Battle of Wolf 359 that it was realized that a faster, more heavily armed starship would be needed to fight the ever increasing threat of the Borg. The Patria class project was reincarnated and they began to to build the new ships with newer, and more, weaponry. At the end of the Dominion War, there were 9 ships in service.
