Steamrunner Class
This heavy frigate was designed and produced at the same time as the Akira class starship and for the same reason -- initially to fight an expected Borg invasion. After that threat had come and gone, the units were pressed into service in the Dominion War. Although powerful and heavily armed, 45 of these vessels were lost in skirmishes or battles with the Jem'Hadar and Cardassian fleets.
