Caesar Class
The Caesar class is a novel type of research ship with the design objectives to replace the older and aging Oberth class starships. The Caesar class also has the added capability to separate into two sections: Saucer and Stardrive, which gives this class extended capabilities with research missions. The saucer section is capable of entering the upper atmosphere of a gas giant and is equipped with independent and redundant sensor systems. There are presently 27 Caesar class ships in service, and the number is growing rapidly as more and more Oberth class ships are decommissioned.
