Himalaya Class
The development of the Himalaya class was one effort to replace the older Ambassador class starships in the early 2350's. Since the Himalaya's were meant to operate far outside Federation borders, they were installed with large family living quarters. This was one of the first ships to have holodecks installed. They went through
a refit at one point and were upgraded with newer, more sophisticated warp engines. There are sixteen on active duty.
